Diane's Story

From a young age, I was captivated by the world of creation. Growing up in Scotland, I spent countless hours crafting with my grandmother, who introduced me to the wonders of art and design. Together, we filled rainy afternoons with creative projects, using all manner of found materials to bring our ideas to life.
This early love for crafting led me to pursue formal studies in the field. I attended Guildhall University in London, where I earned a degree in Silversmithing, Jewellery, and Allied Crafts. My dedication and talent were recognised with a "Precious Metal Bursary" from the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths for a fruit bowl design, as well as a "Merit Award" from the British Jewellers Association.
After completing my studies, I spent over 23 years as a Technology teacher, working with both mainstream and special needs students.
For the past 40 years, I have honed my craft, constantly exploring new techniques and materials. My jewellery is deeply inspired by nature and natural forms, and this connection to the environment has led me to develop Eco Jewellery. My goal is to reduce the environmental impact of my work, starting with the use of recycled silver and gold. Over time, I’ve further refined my workshop processes, replacing harmful chemicals with natural alternatives whenever possible.
Sustainability extends beyond the jewellery itself. I use Mulberry paper for all packaging, which is sourced without harming the environment. The fibre is collected sustainably from the tree’s shoots, ensuring no trees are cut down, and the paper is fully recyclable.
Each piece of jewellery is meticulously handmade in my Colchester studio. I am proud to be a member of The Suffolk Craft Society and The Guild of Jewellery Designers.
Thank you for supporting Eco Jewellery – where craftsmanship, sustainability, and creativity come together.
